Filled vinyl chloride polymer compsn - with good mechanical properties, contains vinyl chloride-alpha-olefin copolymer and calcium carbonate filler

Compsn. contains (a) 0-50 wt. % PVC, (b) 50-100 wt. % of a graft copolymer made by polymerising vinyl chloride in the presence of an alpha-olefin polymer (e.g. an ethylene-propylene copolymer) as polymer component and (c) 20-100 pts. (preferably 40-80 pts. wt. (per 100 pts. wt. polymer component) of CaCO3 as filler. Prefd. filler is precipitated CaCO3, with a particle size of 0.1-0.03 u. Compsns. have good mechanical properties and can be used for building applications, but do not evolve noxious HCl fumes on ignition.
