Motor control circuit with return-to-supply generator braking - has chopper in series with motor armature and two braking switches

The control circuit, for motors, has a chopper (9) connected between a first supply pole and the motor armature (13). The other side of the armature is coupled via the motor field winding (12) and a first circuit breaker (11) to the second supply pole. The field winding is bridged by an excitation source (27). A second circuit breaker (23) shunts the armature and chopper, and a discharge diode (16) connects the armature/chopper junction to the first supply pole. During normal operation the first circuit breaker is closed, and the second open: during braking the reverse is the case, and the motor acts as a generator re-supplying the supply over the discharge diode.
