The housing unit which is built up from separate components is cheaper to manufacture than an integral housing. The housing accommodating the cylinder lock, key, handle and the dowels consists of two symmetrical halves each of which has a semi-cylindrical seat. This form as cylinder on the assembly which accommodates aligned cylinder lock components. A central opening is provided at mid length for accommodating the key. The arrangement has transverse cylindrical seat which is used for accommodating the handle and the spring loaded dowel. The semicylindrical seats have a groove for accommodating a centering and locking rib. The separate components are made from injection moulded plastics, such as polyamide or from polyvinylchloride which have very low coefficients of thermal expansion.
