Fertilisers contg. potassium molybdate - application to acidic soils to stimulate development of azotobacteria

K2MoO4 is added (I) at the rate of 0.250kg-5.500 kg/ha. as adjuvant to conventional fertilisers for application to soils having a pH of 5-8.6. (I) stimulates the development of azoto bacteria (Beijerinckia, Derxia and Azotobacter) which fix atmospheric nitrogen. It also stimulates Rhizobium Meliloti, which supplies amino acids and fixes atmospheric nitrogen directly. Mo is usually added as ammonium molybdate, which is not effective in acid soils as the Mo is converted to a sparingly sol. form. Addn. of (I) does not suffer from this drawback.
