Moulded power transmission belt features projecting fibres - for fibre/pulley interface to reduce friction, noise and belt instability

Power transmission belt comprises a composite moulding with a lower zone running in compression, a neutral zone incorporates the traction ends and a surface zone operating in tension, the bearing surfaces of the belt feature having projecting ends of internal fibres. The fibre/pulley interface operates at lower friction levels than the matrix/pulley interface would, reducing belt temps., and/or permitting higher operating speeds and smoother release of the belt from the rotating pulley, reducing operating noise and increasing belt stability.
