Gas passage means is provided through each closure head 54, 137 and a gas relief valve 58 is mounted in a coupling 60 in each of the coupling 60 in each of the passage means. These valves provide a controlled sleeve of any gas which may be produced from the nuclear fuels contained in a conventional vented polyethylene tube (not shown) carried within the container.
