1490599 Moulding a hollow toroidal article D V VAIDYA 23 Sept 1975 [4 Oct 1974] 39009/75 Heading B5A In a process for moulding a closed hollow toroidal article, e.g. a tyre, a split hollow mould 11 is supplied with fluent material in a quantity substantially less than that required to fill the mould cavity but sufficient to fill completely the entire lowermost radial section thereof when the cavity axis is horizontal, and the mould is slowly rotated about this axis to cause the material to set progressively inwardly from the cavity surface until all the material has solidified. The material may be a polyurethane elastomer heat set by rotating the mould in an oven or by dipping its lower part in a heated bath, or by spaced heaters.
