An attachment (2) which replaces the shovel on the arm on the machine (1), comprises a horizontal beam (3) with a double row of teeth (4) projecting downwards. The end of each tooth is cranked rearwards with a socket to hold the working tip this being replaceable when worn. In the centre of the beam are two vertical plates (8), spaced apart and reinforced to fit onto the machine arm, capable of pivoting (11). These plates also project forwards (5) and are connected (7) to a right angled lever (6) each side to form a linkage, this being attached to a hydraulic cylinder on the arm.
