Earth connection for lightning conductor or for electrical installations and networks. The connection is made to an earth electrode (1) or other earthing system. The earth cable (2) is protected by an insulated sheath. It is fixed to the top end of the electrode which in turn is coupled to a removable extension (4) at the top and the whole assembly driven into the ground. It is driven far enough down to protect the joint (3) from any detrimental effects. The extension is then removed from the ground. The protective shield is also earthed to a special earthed electrode or some other earthing device far enough away from the main earthing electrode.
