1504715 Sail setting and furling device B E O EBBESON and B A WISJO 1 Sept 1975 [2 Sept 1974] 35997/75 Heading B7V A device for setting and furling a spinnaker on a boat 4, comprises an envelope of textile material, e.g. nylon fabric, which is securable to the top of a mast 3 and slippable over the said to adjust its effective area, the area bottom end of envelope being joined to a rigid outwardly flared member 12, e.g. of glass-fibre reinforced polyester resin. The envelope is raised and lowered by a halyard 18, 19, secured to the member 12 by a crowfoot 21, and passing through a hole 23 in a rigid upper member 13, e.g. of stainless steel. The envelope can be stiffened or reinforced adjacent the members 12 and 13. In Fig. 5, not shown, the upper and lower members (29) and (44) are clamped to the envelope (26) by members (31) and (45), respectively, and the envelope is folded back to seams (50), and (51) adjacent the members.
