Surface-coated, glass fibre-reinforced polyester mouldings - decorated or inscribed with polyester lacquers in clear pigmented form

Surface-coated, glass fibre-reinforced polyester mouldings, e.g. boat body parts in negative form, that are decorated or inscribed with polyester lacquers in clear or pigmented form, are produced by (a) applying a lacquer base layer, esp. after the initial applicn. of a sepg. agent, to produce a pattern on the mould wall, suitably inside a mirror image region defined by adhesive stencils or strips, (b) treating the applied pattern by drying, and then stripping the stencils or strips, (c) applying =1 surface finishing lacquer layer over the total region of the mould wall, and drying this layer, (d) applying the polyester resin and the fibrous reinforcement to form the moulded part, (e) curing the moulded part, (f) demoulding the glass fibre reinforced polyester moulding so that the applied finishing layers remain on the surface of the moulded part, and (g) polishing the finished surface. The method provides the moulding with an excellent surface finish. This is durable and optically accurate, and can be produced in any desired patterns and colours.
