A resistance body is mfd. having voltage dependent characteristics. Zinc oxide and doping material are mixed together in powder form. After a heating process this powder mixt. is pressed to form the resistance body to a desired shape and then subjected to a further heating process. After a sintering operation it is broken up. The powder from several such bodies is subjected to a further heating and pressing process to form resistance bodies having dimensions suitable for their intended purposes. Conducting layers are provided on opposite sides of each resistance body.
