The indenter mechanism incorporates indenting dies mounted on a collet head along the leading edge of the conveyor belt, clamped to the support. The indentation is carried out by an opposing lever mechanism. The die is alternately opened and closed, squeezing or crimping wires or links together to anchor them to the belt edge. The indenting dies are situated at the edge of the conveyor belt from which the fasteners protrude at right angles to the direction in which pressure is applied. After crimping, the connecting prices are manipulated to bend back the free ends of the fasteners.
