The beam, which is hinged, is connected to a support arm. The rotation of the beam is effected by a hydraulic jack which is joined to a balancing beam which is in turn attached to the support arm through a jack. The former jack is hydraulically operated from electromagnetic switches which are linked to a programmer which times the vibration cycle. By these means the degree of compaction can be controlled at its optimum value. The alignment of the machine can also be regulated.
