An bale carrying trailer has a platform tipping to 90 deg., with slats (2) attached to uprights (3) to support the load during transit. The bottom slat (5) on each side of the platforms, acting as a guide for the vertical support (6) of pallet (7), slides along the pallet between slat (5) and trailer beam (8), and fits inside pallet (7). A pick-up head (13) in front of the trailer gathers the blades (11) by means of tines (14) on chains (15). The bales are guided one by one into a channel (19) below platform (1), which has an elevator (20) the same width as the platform. A set number of bales are raised and held at the level of platform (1). A pair of movable stops maintains the row of bales in position below the previous row, and the process continues until a pre-determined height is reached, when they are pushed by a panel (32) up against the pallet. When the platform is full, the trailer is unloaded by tipping through 90 deg. so that the bales are now supported by the pallet underneath them, on the ground.
