Small-scale sewage treatment - by aeration through immersed splash wheel combined with radial air flow impeller

A small-scale sewage treatment plant of parent patent is based on aeration by spraying uses a splash wheel with blades dipping into the sewage which is arranged on a vertical drive shaft in a stack above the fluid level. A fan impeller above the splash wheel discharges the atomized fluid in a horizontal direction. The appts. is improved by combining the splash wheel with the fan impeller, the latter being a radial flow fan, with downward extensions which dip into the fluid level. An annular plate covers the top of the fan impeller except a central part. The design is thus simplified and the direction of the expelled air flow coincides with that of the fluid droplets, resulting in a more intensive mixing and aeration.
