The container is for example for sweets of a thick creamy consistency. The base (2) of the container and its sides are supported by a surrounding plastic ring (3). An opening (7) in the base is closed by a piece (8) of plastic, moulded at the same time as, and attached, to the ring. The piece can be removed, admitting air, to assist in tipping out the container's contents. The supporting ring can have ribs attached to it extending up the sides of the container.
