The pipe bend lagging sleeve consists of two shell pieces (1, 2) which are assembled on the bend (C) with a flat joint along the horizontal mid-plane edges of the pipe. Each shell piece is obtained by cutting a pressed semi-torus. The torus is made of thin metal and of a diameter to suit the pipe bend angle concerned. The joint can be made from two identical shell pieces but, in practice, it is preferable that one shell (1) overlaps the other (2). The joining of the two shell pieces is carried out by screws for sheet metal or special rivets.
