The system is for measurement of the transfer function of fibre optic devices used for long distance function of fibre optic devices used for long distance transmissions of modulated light. The laser light source (3) is excited by a pulse generator and power amplifier to emit short luminous triangular shaped pulses. A lens system acting as an injector element (4) focusses the light onto the input of the optical fibre (5). Luminous signals received at the other end of the optical fibre are detected by a photo detector (6) with a rapid rise time in the particular frequency range. A spectrum analyser (7) permits visual analysis of input and output signals and an X-Y plotter records the signals.
