(Thio)phosphoryl- and phosphonyl formamidines of the formula R1X ¦ PARALLEL Y R1-NH-R2-N-CH=N-P ANGLE (I) Z wherein X is O or S, Y and Z each independently is OR or SR, or one of them is R, R is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic, heterocyclic or araliphatic radical, R1 is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic radical, and R2 is -(CnH2n)- or -(CpH2p-2)- optionally substituted by C1-6 alkyl, chlorine, NO2or CN, n is 1, 2 or 3, and P IS 2 OR 3, OR R2 includes 1 or 2 carbon atoms of a 5-membered or 6-membered cycloaliphatic ring or a fused benzene ring, WHICH POSSESS INSECTICIDAL, ACARICIDAL AND NEMATOCIDAL PROPERTIES.
