摘要
The bridge abutment is esp. suitable for use where it is desirable to assemble a bridge below a railway track, with as little interference as possible with the flow of traffic; it is inserted horizontally into the surrounding earth, and is made up from superimposed interlocking octagonal and square cell units, one above another. The walling parts of these cell units are assembled from steel sheet piles (1) and wide flat steel bars (2). These two sets of components are welded together at the cube/octagon junction. Adjacent cell units may be joined to each other by snaplock joints in the steel sheet piles, and individual cells may later be concrete -filled. This concrete may be reinforced, using cutouts in the bars.
