Gas trace detector with (in)active elements - contg. coiled platinum or platinum alloy coiled wires coated by thorium oxide

The detector contains =1 catalytically (in)active gas detector elements and =1 inactive comparator elements for gas measuring and gas analysis instruments. The novelty is combination of (a) use of a coiled wire of Pt, having a small cross-section, or of a Pt alloy having a higher resistivity than Pt; (b) complete or partial incorporaton of the wire in a coating of Th oxide; (c) embedding a catalyst in Th oxide coating; and (d) embedding a deactivator in Th oxide coating for inactive element and comparator element. Detector is suitable for operation in intrinsically safe circuits. Detector has high mechanical stability and constant signalling. Current requirement is 100 mA at operational bridge voltage 10 v.
