The crude casting is composed of an additional thickened section (4, 10) which is situated along the complete periphery of a wall surface (1a, 1b) which is to be worked or processed in order to produce the finished casting. The wall surface (1a, 1b) is near an in-run or gate (3, 11) for the casting. The thickened section (4, 10) is in contact with the run- in or in-gate (3, 11) and the in-gate (3) itself has its narrowest cross-Section (1) situated at the area of contact between it and the thickened section.
