The sound and heat insulating ceiling element incorporates a cassetted panel with a decorative and weather-resistant visible surface coating, pressed out, under pressure and heat, from a compound of fibrous material and heat-hardening binder. A sandwich structure is made up from a shallow cup-shaped cassetted panel (1), with a reinforced edge. The hollow space (2) in this is filled with a heat and sound insulating material, which may also be flame-proof; and a thin plate (3) is fixed on the edge away from the visible side, which seals the hollow space. There may be a number of small apertures. No additional insulating layer is needed.
