A charging circuit for nickel/cadmium batteries with a comparator, applies a test voltage depending on the battery voltage, and a reference voltage corresponding to the battery specified charged voltage to the comparator inputs. Its output delivers a signal which trips the series transistor into its saturated or blocked state. In order to compensate the battery charged voltage varying with ambient temperature, the output voltage (Uv) temp. characteristic is similar to that of the battery voltage.
