The jewellery consists fo a conventional artistically created part containing an assembly of electronic elements which produce optical signals on pre-selected spots or areas. The design makes the piece of jewellery visibly apparent even in the dark or half-light. This is achieved by fitting into the jewel one or several luminous diodes which are glowing in the dark, giving either a continuous or intermittent signal. The diodes are operated from miniature batteries, which, in turn, are recharged by solar cells during exposure to daylight, so that the luminous operation is maintenance-free.
