Colour TV CRT with rectangular screen - has thin shadow mask whose bent edge surrounds telescopic frame with six connecting points

The rectangular shadow mask of the colour cathode-ray tube with rectangular screen consists of a thin sheet metal with apertures for electron beam passage and a peripheral bent edge. The latter surrounds telescopically a frame of heavier material, being secured to the same by a number of connectors distributed over the entire periphery. Six such connectors are provided, one in each corner and one in the middle of each long side of the shadow mask assembly. Preferably the connectors are in the form of spot welds. These welds are located in the outer third of the edge. Between the thin sheet metal part and the edge of the shadow mask may be provided a solid annular zone with a peripheral notch.
