The upholstery nozzle is in the opening with two longitudinally parallel walls which form a channel which extends over the entire height of the nozzle, is separated from the suction chamber of the nozzle and is divided into two partial channels (3,4) which extend from the lateral nozzle edge only up to the edges (9,10) on either side of the mouthpiece of the nozzle pipe (2). The channel walls (5,6,7,8) need not extend right up to the plane of the nozzle edge but a slight gap (11) can remain between these walls and the surface to be cleaned. In this case a longitudinal web (12) can be mounted in the centre of each channel which extends up to the surface to be cleaned so that when cleaning lightweight fabrics they themselves are not drawn against the walls.
