The globoidal worm gear whose teeth are machined using a milling cutter is for transmitting large torques using gearing of small dimensions. The worm wheel is provided as a worm spur wheel (2) whereby the sides (3) of the windings on the globoidal worm (1) roll along the sides of the teeth (5) of the worm spur wheel (2). During the successive engagement of the worm windings with the wheel teeth the linear coupling occurs over the complete sides (4) of the wheel's teeth. The length of the teeth on the wheel (2) is equal to the diameter (d) of the spaces between the windings in the neck (6) of the globoidal worm (1).
