External wall cladding has an outside rendering, without need for panel-shaped rendering supports. A curtain is first fixed in place at an interval from the building wall, and a layering is subsequently applied to this. A rendering substance containing a fibre reinforcement is applied, in a normal way, to a curtain unit which incorporates a lattice structure. Glass fibres may be used as reinforcing material, or plastic fibres. A rendering material may be used on a base of glass-fibre concrete. A curtain unit of glass fibre compound, esp. glass fibre weave, may be used; or it may be made of a metal fibre compound, or of wire. It may have protrusions on the side facing the rendering layer, in the form of nodules or hooks. A heat-insulating layer may be applied to the building wall, at an interval from the curtain unit.
