Fat-free hair-setting compsn. contains 0.05-4 wt. % =1 water-soluble inorganic salt, added to an aq. or aq. alcoholic soln. of standard components. Compsns. pref. contain 0.5-4 wt. % chloride, sulphate, bicarbonate or bisulphate of Na or K and/or MgSO4, opt. mixed with 0.05-5 wt. % MgCl2 or CaCl2, Na2CO3 or K2CO3, prim. phosphate of Na, K, Mg or Ca or sec. phosphate of Na or K. Alcohol is esp. EtOH or isopropanol. Compsns. have an anti-fat and antistatic effect on hair. Fat-load is reduced, fat sheen vanishes and hairs no longer form strands. Set is excellent without stiffening.
