Noise and glare screen wall - with rotatably mounted box absorption elements deflectable under wind loading

The wall, erected at roadsides and elsewhere as a noise screen and also to provide protection from glare, is designed so that its individual elements can open when subjected to wind loading, thus reducing the loading exerted on the foundations. It incorporates a frame (3, 4, 5) with devices fitted on it for fixture to posts (2), stakes, or similar upright supports, and in the frame there are box-shaped absorption elements (7) which are rotatably mounted. There may be elastically resilient return devices and/or excessive load checks between these and the frame. Their axes of rotation may be offset (6) so that two-thirds of their width extends on one side, and they are pref. elliptical otherwise streamlined in cross-section. Several may be interconnected by a hinged rod.
