Multiple part large insulator with sheds - has adhesive surface between two adjacent parts at level of shed roots

The insulator parts are glued together. The adhering surfaces (3, 4) between two adjacent insulator parts (1, 2) being located at the level of the shed roots (5). This level is at the shed (6) underside in the transition zone between the cylindrical part and the shed of the respective upper insulator part. Preferably the machined surface (3) of the upper insulator part is longer by 25% than that (4) of the lower insulator part (2). This machining utilises the material in the shed roof. The machined surface is typically at right angles to the insulator parts centre axis, and meets specified dimensions in relation to wall thickness.
