Dyeing of textile webs of or contg. synthetic fibres involves impregnation with a dye liquor, opt. drying, thermosol or steam treatment, hot after-treatment in an aq. bath, opt. rinsing and drying. After-treatment is carried out with nonionic and/or anionic detergent (I) and opt. a reducing agent. The cloth, in open width. is passed under little or no tension through =2 baths, =1 of which is at 80-100 degrees C. Before this treatment and/or after leaving (one of) the baths, the cloth may be sprayed with water of 20-100 degrees C and/or squeezed and/or hydro-extracted. The first after-treatment bath is at 20-80, pref. 60-70 degrees C and the other bath(s) at 80-100, pref. 92-98 degrees C. The water used for spraying is at 20-98 degrees C and can contain (I) and/or an organic solvent. The cloth is passed through the after-treatment baths in the form of hanging loops and the liquor is circulated downwards. Used esp. for dyeing polyester, polyester/cellulose, polyester/wool, polyamide and polyacrylonitrile textiles. The feel, esp. of pile fabrics, is much better than usual.
