White facing bricks of low porosity - made by mixing white firing clay with glass powder, moulding and firing

Fireclay with reduce porosity is made by mixing a clay or a paste of decorating and facing brick with a product fusible at 1000-1100 degrees C, such as glass or frit, then firing the mixt. at 1000-1100 degrees C. The fusible product reduces the porosity of the bricks obtd. makign them suitable for use as facing bricks. The firing temp. is considerably below the usual firing temp. required for facing bricks (1200 degrees C) and white firing clays can be used to produce white facing bricks.
