Atomatic production of wheel balance weights - machine combines lead strip with adhesive or magnetic tape

A machine for the continuous stepped production of balancing weights for vehicle wheels combines a strip of lead with an adhesive or flexible magnetic ribbon. To ensure a good surface for adhesion, the metal strip should contain about 99% lead and 0.5% antimony. A narrow flanged drum carries the lead strip which then winds around a complex of pulleys mounted in a frame. One pulley is in contact with a roller applying adhesive from a reservoir. A large pulley connected to a stepping drive system and a heater ensures rapid drying of the adhesive. From the frame the strip passes to a second, where it is combined with the adhesive ribbon as both pass through a hammer and anvil system. The value of the weight is stamped on and a cutter divides the strip. The pneumatic drive for the hammer is synchronised electrically with the electrical transport.
