1469809 Non-lethal projectiles RHEINMETALL GmbH 7 June 1974 [9 June 1973] 25474/74 Heading F3A A non-lethal projectile which on impact spreads and produces a relatively low energy per unit area, comprises a casing 1 which is stable in flight and which can be upset or deformed on impact with a target and which has a deformable filling 3 of high specific gravity. The casing comprises a soft plastics material such as polyethylene and is formed with longitudinal grooves to produce spreading from predetermined positions. A hand plastics base 2 is friction welded to the casing. The filling 3 comprises powdered or granular lead or a heavy metal powder to which has been added a plastic binding agent or a rubber compound.
