Fungicidal compsn. consists of a polyene (I) dissolved in a mixt. of a lower aliphatic alcohol (II) and a lower aliphatic carboxylic acid (III) together with usual auxiliaries. (I) is esp. natomycin, aureofungin or lucensomycin or their salts or esters. Esp. for protecting citrus fruit during long-term transport or storage: (I) penetrates into the skin of the fruit and completely suppresses hungal growth. In the case of fruits which are already infected spore-formation is inhibited so the fungus is localised. Compsns. can also be used to preserve other fruits, vegetables, bulbs, seeds or animal fodder.
