The composite mainly steel, or steel and concrete, girder, has a prestressed concrete chord for bending-stress absorption, in the form of a tension strip with lengthways prestressed concrete parts, joined by two anchoring devices. These consist of a lever structure able to swivel across the girder's (1) longitudinal axis, conducting thrust or tension forces to points lying at an interval across this axis. The lever is a flange (11) projecting from the anchor plates (5) on the tension strip (2). This is supported next to the strip in a recess (12), and screwed to the far side of the support element. Girder and tension strip can be easily joined on site, and thrust forces need not be absorbed by screw bolts.
