The charging circuit for an electric vehicle drive batteries and electric installation supply battery has the mains transformer (2) provided with a second secondary winding (5) for the separate supply battery (7). This second secondary is coupled via a separate full wave rectifier (6) to the supply battery for the vehicle installations. A switch (9) disconnects the supply battery from the rectifier as soon as a voltage monitor (8) detects the fully charged voltage across the battery. The first secondary is coupled via the main rectifier bridge 3) to the vehicle drive batteries (4). The advantage lies in the ability to charge both sets of batteries from a normal alternating current mains plug connector.
