The electronic circuit includes a function generator (2), typically for moisture content or other physical variable, in parallel with a triangular waveform generator (3) with outputs leading to a comparator (4). From the latter signals proceed to precision rectifiers (7, 8) which also process input from temperature function generators (5, 6). Top and bottom boundary zones of the family of characteristics may then be evaluated, and can also be represented as voltages or currents by a diode or another function generator within required limits of accuracy. The generator delivering the voltage of a specified waveform determines the percent contribution of the function generator to the output test value and of the test value to be determined. The final stage is an integrator (9).
