Mixed load assembly system on pallet - stores packages of one kind in layers ready for mechanical issuing

The system assembles mixed loads on carriers such as pallets etc. Layers formed by packages of one kind of item are stored on supports ready for issuing, and the layers containing the different kinds are mechanically transferred to the pallet to make up the complete mixed load. To handle the individual layers sheets of material of suitable quality can be inserted between the layers held ready, each sheet forming a protruding tongue, which can be gripped, extending for the entire length of one side of the layer at least. The layers of one kind of item can be so arranged that one side of each is aligned with the others along a front from which access is gained when making up the load.
