The stop valve has a spherical closing element enclosed by a housing, with an actuating shaft passing through the housing. The spherical closing element has an axial bore for flow. Circular sealing rings on each side of the closing element are held in shoulders machined into housing bore. These rings are held by secondary seals in housing grooves. Each flexibly preloaded closing element sealing ring is held firmly in a metal ring. The cylindrical bore faces at the housing shoulder enclose a metal ring with radial play. The closing element seal is pressed flexibly against the spherical element by the secondary seal made from elastic material.
