The vehicle drum brake is activated by brake calipers and has an anchor plate for fixture to the wheel bearing of the vehicle. At least one through aperture in the anchor plate at the level of the brake caliper lining is tightly closable. Each lining on each caliper has a cover which corresponds to the shape of the through aperture and thus closes it, but is releasable. This releasable connection is prevented from rotating. The width of the through aperture is greater than the thickness of the brake lining on the calipers.
