Reinforced concrete hemisphere is used as a platform for undersea well drilling. The entire complex can be lowered onto the seabed and the hemisphere accommodates all the drilling equipment similar to the press. vessel in an atomic reactor. The reinforced concrete pref. contains heavy spar as a ballast material. Hydraulically operated metal feet is pref. fitted to the bottom of the structure to compensate for uneven seabed contours. The complex pref. includes outer ring shaped buoyancy tanks of reinforced concrete.
