Orifice for mfg. ceramic products in strand processes - made from chromium cast iron spark machined on wearing surfaces to extend life

Orifice for making prods. of the coarse and fine ceramics industries produced in strand processes, partic. for mfr. of facing stones, split slabs, as well as refractory products is formed from a foreplate which can be fastened on a press head and an orifice frame fixed to it. The frame consists of a Cr-contg. chilled iron with 30-40 Cr, pref. 34% and its contact surfaces and outlet edges are machined by spark erosion by an electrode inserted in these. The orifice has excellent wear resistance and is made with high dimensional accuracy.
