The mixing machine mounted on crawler tracks (1) has a swinging arm (10) which extends forwards and which can be moved from side to side also raised and lowered so that the rotary cutter (5) on its end can follow a series of arcs to make a concave shaped cut in the coal face. Also incorporated is a scraper chain conveyor (17, 18) to convey cut material from the cutting face to the rear. Mounted on a base plate (20) spanning the frame (9) of the machine and the crawler tracks (2) is a jib crane (22) with a hydraulically operated telescopic and folding arm (23). This crane can be rotated through an angle of at least 180 deg. about its vertical axis. It is used to install the trough shaped channels forming the framework for the tunnel cladding sheets.
