A heat exchanger comprises a stack of plates of sheet material embossed in longitudinal and transverse directions to define undulating fluid conducting channels with an adjacent plate. The longitudinal embossments of each of a pair of plates are aligned with wavelength. Bars are arranged in the longitudinal direction between the plates to further control fluid flow, whilst each plate of a pair is a mirror image of the adjacent plate of an adjacent pair.
