Igniter charge assembly - particularly for firing hollow propellant charges, has its own propellant to drive it into the main charge

The assembly has an initiator system, a relay charge and a main ignition charge. At least one propellant charge, connected to the igniter and to the relay charge, is between the firing system mounted on the base of the igniter assembly and the main igniter charge situated at the end of the assembly. The assembly of charges is located in the interior of a director tube permitting the ejected charges to be guided at the instant the propellant charge is fired, these ejected charges then sliding without excessive resistance inside the director tube. Can be used e.g. for repeated ground tests by the use of a re-usable director tube or in service with a destructable tube.
