The actuator for sliding of motor vehicle windows and sliding roofs has electric motor. The worm and wheel production drive unit can be disengaged for manual operation by a coupling. The coupling arrangement is connected after the reduction drive which remains an integral unit. The coupling arrangement can be a splined shaft or a friction disc system. A nut (33) ensures axial loading of the coupling. The coupling connects the outpt pinion (8) with the worm and wheel drive for the sliding window.
